OrthoProcedures ranks 8,293 orthopedic surgeons by verified Medicare procedure volume, built entirely from the CMS Medicare Physician & Other Practitioners data (2024 release) using a published methodology. No surgeon can buy a position. No hospital can sponsor a listing. Every ranking is reproducible from public data.
That independence is the product. Organizations license our data precisely because it cannot be influenced — by us, by them, or by anyone else.
What We Offer
1. Open Data API — Free
Every ranking is available as versioned, CORS-enabled JSON under a CC BY 4.0 license: surgeon profiles by NPI, state and national rankings, and procedure trends from 2013 onward. No API key required — attribution is the only condition. Start with the Open Data documentation or the DataCatalog endpoint.
2. Commercial Data Licensing
For use beyond CC BY 4.0 terms: bulk and attribution-free licensing, custom extracts (by region, procedure, or volume threshold), and historical trend data. Typical licensees are health systems benchmarking surgical programs, insurers building network analytics, researchers, and media organizations.
3. White-Label Analytics & Embeds
Embeddable ranking widgets and volume analytics for partner sites — referral platforms, hospital directories, and health publishers. Our widgets are already in production; white-label deployments add your branding on our data pipeline.
4. Editorial & Research Collaborations
Our insights team publishes data-driven analyses of Medicare surgical volume. We collaborate with journalists and academic researchers on custom analyses, and we answer methodology questions on the record.
What We Do Not Offer
We do not sell rankings, sponsored listings, or featured placements — at any price, under any label. A surgeon's rank reflects Medicare procedure volume and nothing else. Display advertising on the site is served by an independent ad network and has no influence on rankings or editorial content. Partnership inquiries premised on influencing rankings will be declined.
